I recently upgraded to MyEclipse 7.0, and am attempting to use Pulse Explorer to add additional software. My profile is the “MyEclipse 7.0” profile, and I am attempting to install the “JavaScript Developer Tools” plugin. When I do I get the following error:

“Cannot complete the install because some dependencies are not satisifiable.”

The full error details are attached. I then try to resolve these dependencies by manually adding the packages (equinox, etc), but each time I do, I get an error that these dependent packages now require even more additional packages. Is there not a way to have Pulse Explorer simply figure out what dependencies are needed and automatically add them? Or am I expected to manually hunt down each and every dependency required?

This isn’t so much of a problem of unresolved dependencies (Pulse will resolve them as long as it knows about the containing update site) this is an issue of conflicting dependencies… notice all the messages (except for the last few) are of the form “Cannot find a solution where both Match[CONDITION]”?

That usually implies that MyEclipse already ships that core dependency and is locked to a specific version, and what you are trying to install requires a different version than what is already provided, so Pulse is saying “Sorry buddy, I cannot resolve this” — you would run into this same problem if you tried to manually force these pieces together in the same install also.

Out of curiosity, what tooling out of the JavaScript tools did you want that aren’t already in MyEclipse? We ship quite a bit of JavaScript and AJAX tools out of the box.

We use a JavaScript library called jQuery, and I wanted to install the following patch to allow content code assist for those library functions:

However, it looks like that won’t be compatible with the new MyEclipse 7.0 at this time. Or is there a way within MyEclipse that I can manually add this code library for content code assistance?

If it’s a plugin you can get around the limitation of adding your own update sites right now by using this tip:

From what I can tell, it’s not a plugin. “jQueryWTP” is a JAR file that patches the “org.eclipse.wst.javascript.ui_xxxxxxx.jar” file in the plugins directory to add jQuery code completion support to WTP. According to the site that developed jQueryWTP, it is compatible with MyEclipse, but the last update of the JAR file was in October — which makes me wonder if it’s compatible with MyEclipse 7, which was just released.

Riyad, any plans for supporting jQuery code completion natively?

Curt if it’s *exactly* the same name as the existing wst.javascript.ui JAR in the /Common directory under the MyEclipse install dir, it *might* work, if it’s not, then it won’t work yet and you will need to wait for the /dropins support added back to MyEclipse at the end of this month.
