I’ve been fighting through a series of issues, starting with jsch, then duplicate maven plugins, then duplicate jboss tools plugins, etc… It seems like MyEclipse bundles in several (customized?) JBoss Tools plugins, which are of an older version than the OpenShift plugin requires. Is there any good way to be able to take advantage of the newer JBoss Tools related plugins? I love MyEclipse, but this is a real problem.

Conversely if anyone knows of a good/easy way to deal with JBossAS 7 OpenShift projects from within MyEclipse without that plugin, let me know!

    Thanks!

Screenshot of the current error (after I removed MyEclipse Maven support due to a similar conflict).

    Hi,

    Max from JBoss Tools here.

Unfortunately there is no clean way to do this as long as MyEclipse contains plugins that are not compatible with JBoss Tools 3.3.x nor m2eclipse etc.

The only way I see you work with these things from within MyEclipse is to use rhc-* command line tools or an additional eclipse instance with JBoss Tools proper installed.

From here you can create the apps and then in myeclipse you can use standard git commits/pushes to deploy against OpenShift.

    Max,

thanks for your reply! (as an aside one of the things I really love about JBoss is how you can get responses from key folks (however rude a few of those people might be:> )).

I’m sadly pretty new to Git and Maven, and have been having no luck trying to get my OpenShift project hooked up into my MyEclipse workspace, so I will probably just setup a standard Eclipse for learning this stuff, leaning on the OpenShift plugin to get me started.

    Thanks again!

    Max,

Thank you for your inputs. I shall escalate to our dev team members.

    Devon,

Sorry to have missed your post earlier. What are the features of JBoss Tools you are looking for? If you list out the plugins you need and the features in the plugins you are interested in, I shall investigate and get back to you.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

I’m trying to install the JBoss Tools OpenShift plugin so I can learn OpenShift development/deployment on MyEclipse 10.

    Max, thanks for chiming in.

    Devon,

These tools will not work inside MyEclipse 10 due to the older version of JBoss tools that we have integrated. as Max mentioned earlier. We also ask users about the features they are interested in so as to better understand the plugins you want to install and use; we can then make sure these work when we make the fixes.

We are working on an update to the integration that should make installation of plug-ins like this possible, this would be due early next year but I will try to re-prioritize based on feedback from a few users who are facing similar problems. I will post back here when we have an update.

Sorry for not being able to help further at this time; please let me know if you have any further questions.
