Can’t update from 6.0 to 6.5 using update manager and local archived update site. If MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench 6.5 is selected, error message “PDT Feature (1.0.2.v20080102-79-7GE7QYGHNGPGY) requires feature “org.eclipse.wst (2.0.0)”, or compatible.” will appear.

I wouldn’t like to do All-in-One install, since I have several other plug-ins already installed (subversion, crystal reports, coverage, yourkit). How should I proceed?

I have the same problems although with different features. My Update Manager throws the following error:
Requested operation cannot be performed because it would invalidate the current configuration. See details for more information.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for Microsoft (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for Apache Derby (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Java Persistence API Tools (1.0.1.v200709130000-77-5CYQCCz-D7LQCCCD) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.feature”.
Data Tools Platform Enablement (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for IBM (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for Sybase (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for ODA Designer (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.oda.designer.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for MySQL (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for ODA Runtime (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.oda.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for PostgreSQL (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform SQL Development Tools (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for Oracle (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.
Data Tools Platform Enablement for HSQLDB (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.

All those featuers are previously installed with the requested version (1.5.1).

I would appricate a quick respons since we have about 190 user, wating for an upgrade.

    dipp,
I’m not sure what requirements that PDT sets forth that is blocking the MyEclipse update; unfortunately there isn’t much we can do if a 3rd party plugin is defining a plugin requirement that blocks the update from occuring. One suggestion I might make is trying to move to using Pulse (www.poweredbypulse.com) if you can find the plugins you use in the catalog or if you don’t mind paying for the Freelance version, you can add any update sites you like (with the free version you can install as much local software you want, it’s just not shared with your profile).

Although it is still possible, depending on the plugins you have installed, to run into a situation where a plugin’s requirements will be broken if an update is applied.

    carinoh,
Can you go to the MyEclipse menu, click Installation Summary > Installation Details and paste that information here for me?

I am getting the following error when I try to update from 6.0.1 to 6.5 using the local archived option.

Requested operation cannot be performed because it would invalidate the current configuration. See details for more information.
MyEclipse HotFix-600.1: SecurityException with Signed Libraries (6.0.0.zmyeclipse60020070824) requires plug-in “com.genuitec.eclipse.core (6.0.0)”, or equivalent.

Should I disable this and proceed with the install.

    Thanks,
    Bhaskar

Thank you for a quick answer. Could you explain the error message more precisely. Is there a conflict between some components (which ones?), is some component out of date or what’s the matter? I guess this has something to do with Crystal Reports plugin but I’d like to understand what is wrong exactly.

    Bhaskar,
Yes that should be safe to do as the HotFix was included in the 6.0.1 update and will definitely be in the 6.5 update once you apply it.

    dipp,
If you look at the error you posted, it’s showing you which plugins require which other plugins as a reason the upgrade can’t proceed.

From the general looks of it, most of DTP you have installed (left hand side) requires version 1.5.1 of modelbase (right hand side), and if the upgrade proceeds, those modelbase plugins will all get upgraded, breaking the hard-1.5.1-requirement that the left hand side has.

The easiest thing is this case, is to install MyEclpsie 6.5 using the all in one installer, and try and add back each plugin, 1 at a time until you get a failure from one (maybe Crystal Reports like you said)… then atleast you can narrow down the 1 plugin that won’t happily upgrade.

    dipp,
I had the same problem you did. I just disabled the “MyEclipse HotFix-600.1” plugin, restarted, and then updated to 6.5 and it worked great. Good luck.

    Hi,

I am getting the same error as carinoh.

Data Tools Platform Enablement for ODA Designer (1.5.1.200709261) requires feature “org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.oda.designer.feature (1.5.1)”, or compatible.

I noticed in your response to Carinoh that you asked for an Installation Summary. I have included that below. Are you able to help with this. Thanks.

    klamborn,
Did you check your configuration see if you have the hotfix listed and try disabling it?
