John MooseMembercan’t figure out what this really means when just trying to update Pulse in MyEclipse7.1

support-joyMemberjgmoose,
The above log file excerpt suggests compatibility conflicts. To understand the root cause, can you answer couple of questions for me –
1. Can you copy and paste your installation details here? You can get it from MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Detail. This will help me understand your current configuration.
2. How did you install ME? Have you used all-in-one installer, or used pulse to download ME or used Eclipse classic 3.4.1 and installed MyEclipse plugin?
3. How were you trying to update pulse in ME? Did you click on [install] Pulse 2.4.2 on MyEclipse Dashboard?
4. Have you installed any 3rd party plugins? Can you copy and paste them here for me? You can get the details from Help > Software Update > Add/Remove Software
John MooseMemberSo, I am guessing the best way to proceed is to re-install MyEclipse and then add my many 3rd party plug-ins. Should I be using Pulse to add the plug-ins or should I do this myself…and here’s why I ask…ultimately, my target workstation is located behind a hardened government firewall. What I have been doing is getting MyEclipse tooled-up the way I need it, then burn it all onto a DVD and import it “inside”. Once it’s inside, Pulse is useless to me and any add-ons or plug-ins get added as archives manually. So, should I even start with Pulse or just forget Pulse entirely and maintain the MyEclipse configuration manually (which kinda sucks, btw)? Any advice is very much appreciated
The plug-in complement is something like this:
findbugs, Groovy/Grails, Adobe Flex3, SVN, UML2 modeling, Aptana studio, and others
The Jira/Mylin stuff is desired as well
support-joyMemberjgmoose,
An important part of including additional 3rd party plugins is to check the compatibility with the underlying base eclipse. For e.g. if you are using MyEclipse 7.1.1 it is based on Eclipse 3.4.1 Classic. As I understand from your above reply, you are on a restricted access and are facing issue when you try to add the pulse update.
I would recommend you to download MyEclipse from http://www.myeclipseide.com and use the 5th option of manual install. After installation, to add the above plugins. I would recommend you to download the Eclipse 3.4.1 compatible versions of 3rd party plugins for findbugs, groovy/grails, adobe flex3, svn, uml2 modelling, aptana studio, etcThere are different ways you can add plugins. Since you are on a restricted access, I would suggest you to download the relevant plugin/feature and add it to [MyEclipse install dir]/dropins folder. (Check if you have plugins and features folders under dropins, if not already present, it is recommended that you create them and copy the relevant files to respective folders)
