My question is relatively simple. Is it worth updating from v8.6 to v 9.n?

Seems a lot of people are finding version 9 very problematic. That said, I have been having all sorts of memory issues with 8.6 so maybe it’s worth a go.

I’ve had a look in the config centre in ME and it doesn’t give me the update option to version 9 when it (eventually) finishes checking for updates. Neither does the Pulse thing give me the option although that does provide a link to downloading it. Does it have to be a clean install? If so, can I use my existing workspace and it’s settings or will I need to re-create my workspace too?

    DaftMule ,

We have fixed lot of performance and memory issues in MyEclipse 9.1. As MyEclipse 8.6 and MyEclipse 9.1 differ in the base Eclipse version, you will not see an update option in the Configuration Center.

Here is the link which gives you more information on the features available and how to install 9.1.

You do not have to uninstall MyEclipse 8.6. You can choose to install MyEclipse 9.1 to a different location.

You can use your existing workspace. When you open the existing workspace with MyEclipse 9.1 the wizard pop ups to enhance your projects to work with MyEclipse 9.1. Follow the wizard and you should be all set.

Let us know if you see any issues.
