    Hi,

the PC that I have installed MyEclipse has no internet access. What should be the proper procedure in order to upgrade it to 3.8.3?

    Dimitris

    Configuration
    Eclipse 3.0.1
    MyEclipse 3.8.2
    OS: Fedora core 3

    Dimitris,
You should be able to download one of the installers from work and burn it to a CD then take it to the unnetworked machine. From there, following the installation instructions posted in the announcement forum should do the trick.

I looked in the announcement forum, but there are no instructions anywhere for upgrading offline. There’s only the 3.8.2 announcement with a reference to another reference that tells how to use the 3.8.3 update site. Or did I overlooked something? If so, could you give me a direct URL to the manual upgrade instructions?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    I agree with henk.

There is no instructions for upgrading offline, but only isnstructions for upgrading using the update site.

If I use the installer there would be no problems?

dsarris and all other people interested,

I found a very simple solution to update offline:

    1) At the downloads section, download: 5. MyEclipse Archived Update Site – 3.8.3 (12/13/2004)
This one is at the bottom of the page and is a platform independent archive.

    2) Unzip the downloaded archive to some local directory.

    3) In Eclipse, navigate to Help -> Software Updated -> Find and Install… -> Search for new features to install -> New Local Site…

    4) Browse your filesystem and select the directory where you unzipped the archive in step 2). Select Ok.

    5) In the box “Sites to include in search”, select only the directory you have just chosen.

    6) From now on, follow the instructions given by Genuitec for the networked install. Basically if you have Eclipse 3.01, it’s just a matter of clicking on every next, ok, finish, etc button.

Hope this helps, it worked for me.

henk is exactly right, this is why we provide the archived update download. Thank you henk.
