I thought that I would post this in case it might be useful to someone else. I ran into a problem trying to upgrade AspectJ using the AspectJ Development Tools (AJDT) (w/related) (AJDTWR) from the popular plugins option in the MyEclipse Configuration Center Dashboard. I kept getting a conflict stating that both cross-reference core jars could not be installed simultaneously. It took 10-15min for the installer to figure this out when it was finalizing software requirements. I tracked the problem down to the installation of the SpringIDE for MyEclipse – AJDT Support (SIMAS) that I had installed previously. It looks like the SIMAS dependency on AJDT cannot be removed, since the AJDTWR doesn’t understand the dependency with SpringIDE for MyEclipse – AJDT Support and doesn’t know to remove SIMAS.
The solution was simple. Remove SIMAS, install AJDTWR and then reinstall SIMAS. I now have AJDTWR updated to the latest version of 20101021 from 20101006 along with the SIMAS functionality.
