juicypartsMemberMy apologies if this has already been answered; I didn’t find any references to this in the forums and FAQs (probably me just searching with the wrong keywords).
Now that Eclipse has been released, I’d like to upgrade. Upgrading Eclipse is the easy part. 😉 Getting new versions of my plugins will be a pain, but it seems straightforward enough.
My questions: Which version of MyEclispe should I install? How do I go from MyEclipse 2.7.1 to which ever 3.0 version? What information, if any, should I save before attempting the upgrade?
Thanks…again my apologies if this has been answered, if so, I kindly ask for the link to the answer. 😳

Scott AndersonParticipantMel,
The easiest “upgrade” is to do a parallel installation of Eclipse 3.0 and MyEclipse 3.8 Beta 2. First, test the parallel installation with a new workspace and make sure that everything seems to be working properly. Next, you’ll need to bring over your 2.1 workspace. However, I’d recommend doing a full backup of it into a zip archive first; not really for MyEclipse, but due to the overwhelming changes the Eclipse team added for the way workspaces work. Once you’ve done the backup, open your existing workspace with Eclipse 2.1.3 and close all the perspectives and all the editors because many core Eclipse views have changed or gone away. Exit Eclipse 2.1.3 and then launch the new Eclipse 3.0 installation and point it at your existing 2.1.3 workspace. You should be good to go at that point.
juicypartsMemberScott,
Thanks for the suggestions. I hadn’t thought about the parallel installation; makes a lot of sense though.
Thanks, again…
