Jose.LoraMemberHi Team.
I recently found an XDoclet extension to create Macromedia ActionScript classes from Java POJOs (http://xdoclet.codehaus.org/Actionscript+plugin) and I’d like to upgrade my XDcolet configuration to include the latest plugin. What is the best way to do this? I found the some info on the help but I didn;t want to go all crazy and overwrite a bunch of files and have issues later like some other guys had in the past.
Thanks for your help
Jose
GregMemberJose,
Currently, there is no way to upgrade to use XDoclet 2 with MyEclipse. It isn’t a simple process for us to update to XDoclet 2 because it is a complete rewrite from XDoclet 1 and is not backwards compatible.
But for your existing issue, have you checked to see if Macromedia ActionScripts can be created with an existing plugin/module for XDoclet 1?
Jose.LoraMemberThanks for the quick answer, I’ll take a look at your suggestion.
Any ideas when will XDoclet be updated on MyEclipse? Is it on the roadmap?
Also, in an unrelated question, do you know when Web Services will be available thru MyEclipse (as in :Add Web Services Capabilities)
Thanks.

Until XDoclet2 reaches feature parity with XDoclet1 we must stay with XDoclet 1.X because of the number of users that require features only supported by XDoclet1. However, as more and more new features are put into XDoclet2 and it matures we might reevaluate our position on upgrading to XDoclet2 but for now, its not on the roadmap.

There is not a simple answer to this question because it is related to other factors. The release of WTP Web Services framework in WTP 1.0 is the biggest question because we are looking to build our web services support on top of WTP1.0.
But rest assured, when we leverage WTP, we will also be enhancing and extending it to provide value for our MyEclipse users.
Jose.LoraMemberHi, I think MyEclipse 7.5 now supports XDoclet version 2. What is the bets way to update those modules to include ActionScript 3 support (http://xdoclet.codehaus.org/ActionScript3Plugin)?
Thanks
support-joyMemberJose.Lora,
I am not sure about this. I will have to validate this with a dev team member. I will get back to you on this.
Jose.LoraMemberThanks
Loyal WaterMemberMyEclipse does not support Xdoclet 2. If you want to use it, you will need to manage your own external build scripts for launching/using Xdoclet 2.
Jose.LoraMemberThank you for the information. Are there any plans to add support for XDoclet2 in the upcoming releases?
support-joyMemberJose.Lora,
Adding support for XDoclet2 is a management decision. Currently there are no plans to add support for XDoclet2 in upcoming release. Please post a feature requests here – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/feature-requests/
Jose.LoraMemberThanks
