pholisterMember1. Deploying a webapp takes around 5 clicks (1 select the project, 2 click the deploy icon, 3 highlight the app, 4 click redeploy, 5 click OK).. I find myself doing this quite often. I’d just like ME to just do what I did last time.. kind of like ‘debug last launched’ from the Run menu.
2. Another thing I do often is highlight a search term so I can do a search/replace. It would be much more convenient to be able to access the search/replace option off my right mouse click (cut paste are there already) instead of moving way to the upper left and pull down to that option from the edit menu. (maybe there is a way to configure it that way, its just not obvious to me).
Thanks.
Riyad KallaMember1) We are aware of the shortcommings with the deployment and running, we hope to address it with a fairly large overhaul in the future, but now is not the time. The change required will be quite fundamental and won’t be done in a service release.
2) CTRL-F 🙂
pholisterMemberRiyad/Anyone,
It may seem trivial but #2 really is pretty annoying to me.. is there some layer that is not java code where the options for the right click in the editor context are configured? Any pointers are appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
Riyad KallaMemberMark I’m not aware of one, I checked quite a few editors out there:
Eclipse Java Editor
Notepad
Textpad
Internet Explorer/Mozilla/Firefoxand none of them offered “Find” or “Find/Replace” in the right click context menu from the editor… what editor are you using that got you hooked on this command sequence?
pholisterMemberRiyad,
No editor got me hooked on it.. in fact, I don’t think I’ve encoutered an editor that does have that option. I was hoping there was a way to configure it to suit my needs (say through modifying some properties file). Maybe this question belongs on a Eclipse msg board, but I was hoping someone at Genuitec could point the way.
Thanks..
Riyad KallaMemberIt does fall into the realm of the core TextEditor functionality and would best addressed at the Eclipse newsgroups/bug tracker… not that we don’t want to help, but just that we are up to our necks in other stuff right now. The devs are free to drop in if they have a quick answer, they monitor these forums as does management.
