hello, and sorry if this question sounds stupid, i just couldn’t find an answer in the forums.

can MyEclipse be used under an existing Eclipse installation?
what i mean is: can i download and install MyEclipse and have it work inside the Eclipse installation i already have? I downloaded and installed the demo, but it starts a brand new IDE into which i would have to import all my existing projects.

    thanks

    Hi,

Here is the FAQ on how to install MyEclipse as an archived update site on top of eclipse classic – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-install-myeclipse-using-archived-update-site/
The FAQ is based on ME 8.5, please use relevant MyEclipse version from here – http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-4.html
Accept license agreement and click on the [download] link for the relevant version. This will redirect you to the next page with various options of installing MyEclipse.
You can also install MyEclipse on top of eclipse classic by adding ME update site. Here are the instructions to add ME 9.0 to Eclipse classic 3.6.1
    1. Install Eclipse Classic 3.6.1.
    2. Edit the eclipse.ini file in the eclipse folder and change the -Xmx384m value to -Xmx512m.
    3. Start Eclipse and click Help > Install New Software > Add the following update site:
    4. http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/helios/enterprise-stable/
    5. Make sure “Group items by category” is selected and select the “MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench” group.
    6. Click Next twice, accept the licenses presented and click Finish to start the installation. Restart when prompted.
