At the end of the unzip of the myeclipse-8.5.0-win32.exe install file, I get a popup error message with a titlebar of “Error Preparing Installer” and an error text of “Registry Directory Not Available.” Any hints? I can run regedit and open the machine’s Windows Registry.

    Ewin,

I haven’t come across this issue on forums. Can you ensure appropriate permissions are available on the installer directory? Did you get this error while unzipping the .zip installer file or while trying to install MyEclipse from the executable? In case it is later, can you look for myeclipse.ini file and copy and paste the contents here?

    Ewin, ,

Adding to the above, can you check if the file size and md5sum of the installer matches that mentioned in the download site? I would suggest you an alternate approach using pulse. Please follow below mentioned steps –
    1. Open Pulse. If you don’t have pulse, download from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
    2. Login to pulse. You can also login anonymously.
    3. Select Eclipse-Ganymede realm
    4. Expand and click on Ready to use Profile > Popular
    5. From the right hand pane, right click on MyEclipse 8.5 and click on [run]
    6. This will open a wizard which will guide you through the rest of the steps.
Let me know how this works for you.

Before I posted, I also tried the Custom Installer (link: http://www.myeclipseide.com/Downloads-req-getit-lid-153.html). That quickly brings up a Pulse splash screen with a progress bar, which appears to run to completion at which time I get the same error message as when I open the 8.5 file I downloaded.

I’ll try to load Pulse with the steps you gave and post the results.

I ran pulse, which got through the downloads to completion. Then it put up an error notice:

An error occurred while collecting items to be installed

    Session context was:(profile=com.powerdbypulse.profile-772238-rmb-690170,phase=com.genuitec.pulse2.client.common.download.PulseCollect,operand=,action=)

    Unable to retrieve or.eclipse.update.feature,org.eclipse.emf,2.5.0.v200906151043

…long list of “Unable to retrieve” entries.

A minor other question: how do I get Eclipse to allow a new window to tile in with other existing windows? Right now when I have one window open (like an ER diagram, it drives me nuts when I can’t get the DB Browser view to stay on the screen- it just overlays the left side of the ER diagram, hides what is underneath and then disappears when I shift focus back to the ER diagram.

    Ewin,

Can you open config.ini file located in [your myeclipse installation dir]\configuration\config.ini and copy and paste com.genuitec.pulse.client.handshake.id here? This will help me do a reverse look up on our servers.
Can you attach a screenshot of pulse issues?

Can you attach a screenshot which will help me get a visual?

The problem about windowing properly is on another machine and my main issue is far more important at present. I still am stuck at a step I described in my post of “Apr 28, 2010 – 02:29 PM”.

Can you please let me know what is the file size and md5sum of the downloaded .exe file? This will help me validate if you have downloaded a complete and un-corrupted installer file.

    File size: 825.84 MB
    MD5 : a9038148dcde9066abc3711bf8ee636c

If you have verified that all the above is valid, I would recommend you a clean re-install. Please follow below mentioned steps –
    1. Run the uninstaller.
    2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed
2.1. Pulse Install Directory, on Vista it’s under <USER.HOME>\AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
    3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under <USER.HOME> is erased as well
    4. Next Install ME 8.5 using either all-in-one installer or pulse.
Let me know how this works for you.

    Joy-

It appears that the reinstall has gone correctly. I just entered my subscriber id.

I think the issue was that I didn’t know all the places that needed to be deleted in order to get a complete uninstall. It appears the official uninstall failed before it was complete.

    Thanks for the help
