Lee HaslupParticipantI am having a problem with DB Explorer in which I can connect to my instance of Oracle, navigate to the schema I want to inspect, and immediately receive a VM crash when I attempt to access the list of tables in the schema.
It is quite likely that I have something set up wrong but it is not clear what that might be.
Steps to recreate the problem in my instance of MyEclipse IDE: (Sadly, 100% reliable)
1) Re-open the crashed IDE.
2) Window->Open Perspective->MyEclipse Database Explorer
3) Right-click my connection (an Oracle connection named “Development”) and select “Open Connection…” (connection succeeds).
4) Click the [+] to expand the “Development” connection. A line showing “Connected to Development” is displayed.
5) Click the [+] to expand the “Connected to Development” line. A list of schemas is displayed.
6) Click the [+] beside the desired schema (named “EEP”) and a list of aspects of the schema is displayed. (SYNONYM, TABLE, VIEW, etc…)
7) Click the [+] beside the word TABLE and the VM crashes. (Go back to step 1).I have two different Oracle JDBC drivers installed. They are named ojdbc14.jar and ojdbc5(2).jar. The first one is used (successfully) by my Java Webapp and the second one was installed to try to work around this problem. As far as I can tell, both fail in an identical way.
Here is (I think all of) the information your “how to use this forum” instructions request:

support-shaliniMemberBigLeeH,
From your log file, I noticed that you are using OCI oracle driver. OCI driver uses a native library in order to communicate to Oracle’s OCI interface where as the thin client is pure Java which is more reliable than native code. OCI driver is know to be causing trouble and no performance gain. The thin driver will relieve you from all OCI-related bugs.
So, I would recommend you to use the Oracle thin driver instead.
Let me know if that helps. -
