Riyad KallaMemberThe MyEclipse team would like to hear your thoughts on planning the most-demanded new features or enhancements to existing features going forward in future MyEclipse releases.

James CamireMemberPerformance!!!! I have been using MyEclipse for years. The latest release is VERY slow and cumbersome. I am thinking of switching if the next version is as slow. After upgrading it takes 3-5 minutes to launch as opposed to 45 seconds in the previous version
innohutMemberI think MyEclipse is a great product. I like all the new features but I would like to see Pulse gone. I have spent close to 10 hours over the past week trying to debug all kinds of issues and every time I could track it back to pulse. Otherwise keep up the good work!
Greatest new feature: excellent maven integration, saves a lot of time!
Riyad KallaMemberinnohut — To address the Pulse issues we are pushing out fixes to Pulse as fast as we can, there is a ton of power that Pulse gives us, but getting it working in every network scenario can be problomatic — we have to work hard to get that right.
jcamire, you’ll love MyEclipse 7.5 and 8.0 releases then. Using the underlying Pulse infrastructure, we are modularizing the IDE and allowing you to actually uninstall (and install — on the fly) the portions of the IDE that you don’t use to make the footprint smaller and startup faster.
In MyEclipse 7.5 it will be about 12 modules, and in MyEclipse 8.0 we hope to add 5 or 6 more that are more “core” and bigger modules that will make more impact on the memory footprint.
We hope this helps make MyEclipse a better fit for a lot of folks.

i really hope that a heavier pulse integration will not create more problems then the ones we are getting now.
anyway, i would like to have some working templates for major frameworks like (jpa/hibernate/ejb3, spring/jpa/hibernate, …)
thanks

Ed rossMemberThis has got to be the biggest step backwards ever taken. It might be ok if it were not so buggy and temperamental. Spend hours debugging and undoing the things it does.
Tried to install an item – could not but partially did.
Tried to uninstall the partial install – could not
Tied to manually uninstall – pain
Tried to delete myeclipse and re-install
Pulse would not let me install MyEclipse
Tried to uninstall pulse – could not
Had to find all the references in appDataGet about a billiion NTLS credential prompting for pulse
Do not understand most of the software update items – they only seem to partially work
Items like “GWT Designer” will no longer install cleanlyI recommended the purchase of MyEclipse to our organization – Now I am starting to regret that.
vladimir.kovalyukMemberthe myeclipse 7.1 is very slow when starting up. Pulse is mostly frustrating thing. 7.1 shows that releases and updates are not well tested, they just don’t work in very simple and obvious cases like installing in non-default folder and SVN support.
So i would vote for performance and stabilty.
jibbaMemberThough I like Pulse as a concept, it’s just a deal breaker in practice. WAY to many issues. We are officially looking into other options moving forward. The Pulse integration is clearly a major issue and is absolutely not ready for the Enterprise. Tragic.
Riyad KallaMemberjibba,
We do provide the Manual Installs and Archived Update Sites for folks that want MyEclipse without Pulse — the Manual Install is just unzip-and-run.
jibbaMemberRiyad,
I downloaded the Manual Install…even worse. Can you elaborate on this install? I don’t see MyEclipse features – it appears that the full MyEclipse stack is installed, but I can’t get anything to work. Nothing MyEclipse specific will launch.
Thanks
