Rice14MemberHi,
I created an app called the Dumba** button in MobiOne for the iPhone/iPod touch (please excuse the profanity.) Then I uploaded it to my website, which can be viewed here http://www.seanmacproductions.com/webapps/Dumbass/Dumbass-Button-2.1.html
I updated it after a while adding a top bar. The new app worked fine in safari. However, the update would not work devices that already had the app “installed” using the add to homescreen button. Opening the app via entering the web address into safari works fine, but opening it from a bookmark on the homescreen is buggy and doesnt work (text is in the wrong place, some screens are completely missing, etc). Even after deleting the app I get the same result. When I added the app to homescreen on a new device that never had it previously installed, it worked fine.I already tried clearing the cache, and it didn’t work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Sean

A couple of thoughts:
1) If your webapp is configured for offline support then this could cause a problem where the webapp is loading from local cache rather than resync’ing and loading resources from the web. Usually, the Designer will update the cache.manifest file when there is any change to the webapp. Doing this should cause the webapp to refresh on next startup. You might try clearing the mobile safari cache on your device and then restarting the app. In some cases the iOS app required both clearing the cache from the settings app and then shutting down the device then restarting.
2) Another possible thought is that the UI is not laided out to resize correctly when the screen area changes. For example when the webapp is launched from the homescreen of an iphone there is no button bar (nav buttons) at the button of the screen. This could cause a layout problem if your widgets auto-resize properties are not set to adapt to the new screen area. The best way for us to determine this is to share one of your screens that has a goofed up layout with us to review. You can attach it to this thread or send it to
support at genuitec dot com and with title “MobiOne sample file from Rice14”.Let’s know if you suspect it is something else. This is my best guess atm without additional info.
Rice14Member@support-wayne File emailed, thanks.
support-michaelKeymasterOK took me a min to stop laughing when I pressed the button… I like Red on the 70’s something show.
Does the problem still persist?
I’ve looked at your app and design files you provided. I have not observed the rendering issue you describe on my iphone4s test device. But again I can not run the same process as you describe to replicate the issue. I am still inclinded to think that something goofed with the appcache. We have seen a series of issues with iOS appcache since its original introduction.
I notice you mention iphone and itouch. What devices and OS versions are your testing with?
