Can anyone suggest a viable solution to my issue? Thanks.

    astein,

The WebSphere home directory should be c:\program files\IBM\WebSphere not c:\program files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer2.
Typically there is a profiles folder in WebSphere, under which there is an AppServer folder. Can you check what folder you have installed WebSphere into? and which folder contains the config.ini file? It is typically in the c:\program files\WebSphere\configuration\ folder, can you confirm the location on your machine?
