via_bulataoMemberI’ve been trying to Google for an answer, but I can’t seem to find it. And the forum search didn’t work too well for me either.
I have the MyEclipse Pro 7.1.1 and I have seen many newsletters and announcements suggesting that MyEclipse 7.1 now has WebSphere 7 Support. Is this support limited to the Blue Edition? Or does Pro / Standard have it, too?
I know it exists on Blue because I tried it out. But I assumed that Pro had this support as well, and I didn’t find WebSphere 7 on the server list when I installed Pro.
Please help!

support-joyMemberVia,
Currently MyEclipse 7.1.1 Blue edition supports WebSphere 7. I don’t have WebSphere 7 with me, but I would recommend you to configure the same on WebSphere 6.1 in ME Pro edition and check if it works for you. You need to click on Window > Preferences > MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench > Servers > WebSphere > WebSphere 6.1 and enable WebSphere server, point the WebSphere 7 home directory and provide other details. Let me know if this works?
via_bulataoMemberJoy,
Thanks for the tip. I tried what you suggested, but I believe it is not fully supported, in that the “Servers” view is not able to indicate the server has started. The status remains at Running, whether the server is just starting or started. Also, the console doesn’t display the full logs that you can find in SystemOut.log.
I don’t remember that it worked like this in Blue. Is this how WebSphere 7 is supported?
Thanks,
Via
support-joyMemberVia,
You are right, currently WebSphere 7 support is only available for MyEclipse Blue 7.1.1 and above. You will need to install blue to use websphere 7.

Is there plans to support WebSphere 7 in a non-blue MyEclipse version?

Last week I read the New & Noteworthy information about MyEclipse 7.5 on the home page (which says “WebSphere 7 support”). I was very excited since that is one of our target platforms (in fact, the only one that MyEclipse 7.1, the version I was using, didn’t have). So I spent a day rebuilding my dev environment incudling downloading and installing 7.5 Professional edition. We use Flex Builder, multiple app servers, and bunch of other things, so it actually takes quite a bit of time to get the environment setup and running.
Much to my dismay, when I got it all setup back up and was ready to deploy I went to MyEclipse->Servers->WebSphere, to configure my WebSphere 7.0 installation, it shows 4.x, 5.x, 6.0, 6.1, and Community Edition. No mention of 7.0 in the list!
Then I found this post. Our software engineering group does not need all the extra Blue features: RAD Project Support, Web Services, Connectors, Remote Servers or the extra $100 per person per year cost. What about just the basic support for WebSphere 7.0 that has always been there for the other 38 app servers like: deploying, undeploying, starting, stopping, debugging, and capturing its output and sending it to the console window?
The WebSphere 6.1 settings obviously don’t work (as the previous poster tried and reported). So, when can we expect to see WebSphere 7.0 in the Professional and/or Standard version of MyEclipse?
Thanks!

support-joyMemberScott, J.C.,
I am afraid the support for WebSphere 7 is currently not available in MyEclipse non-blue editions. It is a management decision and I would request you to place this as a feature request here – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/feature-requests/
