Robert VargaParticipantHi,
when is ME going to support Java7 / Eclipse 3.7.1?
I sincerely hope we do not have to wait for it until Q2 2010 (or later with the usual delays) until 10.5 is released because that would be really ridiculous, if ME managed to miss the Eclipse support for a new Java major version by almost a year.
Guys, this is really not something you could not prepare for.
Best regards,
Robert
support-swapnaModeratorrobvarga,
Our team is aware of the importance of Java 7 support in Eclipse 3.7.1. Please take a look at this thread about Eclipse 3.7.1 support :

Brian FernandesModeratorRobert,
Towards the end of this week we will be releasing 10.0.1 on our milestone stream which will be based on Eclipse 3.7.1. We’ll move that support onto the production stream after we can do some more rigorous testing and pick up additional bug fixes.
Robert VargaParticipantThanks Brian.
Best regards,
Robert
Brian FernandesModeratorRobert,
10.0.1 is now available in our milestone stream; please see this link for further details.
John HamiltonParticipantFor a relatively inexperienced user, a few words of advice on when and how to upgrade to 10.+ and Java 7 would be helpful. Do I have to download and install the JDK separately ? (Ubuntu is not yet at JDK 7.)
support-tonyKeymasterhamiljf,
The milestone release just provides support for Java 7, it doesn’t provide the Java 7 JDK, at this point. So you will have to download JDK 7 yourself. I’m not sure what you mean by Ubuntu not being at JDK 7. It may not provide a Java 7 JDK as part of its installation but you can download and install the JDK yourself.
Here are some instructions for installing Open JDK 7: http://openjdk.java.net/install/
There isn’t a specific Ubuntu version of Oracle’s JDK but you can download the generic Linux version here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-7u1-download-513651.html
Once downloaded, you will have to define a new JRE in MyEclipse, pointing at the JDK 7 installation, in order to use it with your projects (you can have many JREs defined).
I hope this helps.
