ssquireMemberI have a JSF/JSP project that worked and all of a sudden I started getting java.lang.Outofmemory errors (java heap space) every time I call another JSP page. I believe my Workspace has become corrupt. How do I reinstall MyEclipse 9.1. I am not a Pulse member.
support-joyMemberssquire,
If you are facing workspace related issues, you can create a new workspace and give it a shot. Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on File > Switch Workspace > Other and choose a different location.
You haven’t included details about version of MyEclipse you are using, OS and version. Please provide your installation details. Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details and copy and paste the same here.
In case this is an issue of corrupt install. You could do the following –
1. Open Pulse (Start > Programs > Pulse > Pulse Explorer or download from http://www.poweredbypulse.com)
2. Login to pulse. You could also login anonymously
3. Select relevant Eclipse realm. If you are on 9.1, choose “Eclipse – Helios”
4. Select your MyEclipse profile from “My Profiles”
5. Right click on the same and click on [re-install and run]
6. In case your profile is not listed under My Profiles, expand and click on – Ready to use Profiles > Popular. From the right hand pane, select your ME profile and click on [run]
7. This will open a wizard which will direct you through the rest of the steps.Let me know how this works for you.
ssquireMemberApparently, it wasn’t a workspace related issue. I tried creating a simple app and I get java.lang.outofmemoryerror: java heap space before the browser even opens. Is there a way to correct this? My installation details are below:

support-joyMemberssquire,
Thank you for installation details. I am afraid, it is not clear from your post if you have tried out the suggestions. Please answer below queries –
1. Attach myeclipse.ini located in your myeclipse installation dir. I am interested in the memory settings and vm arguments
2. Could you try to run the installer again and at the appropriate point choose to repair the installation?
3. Is the simple app the only app in your workspace?
4. Did you switch to a new workspace and does it still result in java.lang.outOfMemoryError?
ssquireMemberTo be honest with you Joy, I couldn’t understand the Pulse website & what I was supposed to download. It was my first time ever visiting that site and it was kind of confusing.
ssquireMemberJoy,
1. I have attached my myeclipse file with this post.
2. How do I run the installer again?
3. No I have several apps in that workspace, and have had even more and deleted them and recreated others. In short, there’s been A LOT going on in that workspace.
4. Good news – I created another workspace and imported my jsf apps and they work. That is, after I fixed a bone headed mistake of my own in not having a mysql .jar file in my …/Web-INF/lib directory. That seemed to fix several things that manifest as different errors ultimately. It didn’t fix the out of memory java heap error though 🙁Anyway, all of this doing of & subsequent debugging of tutorials has lead me to a conclusion. I believe your guys stuff is reasonably solid. Highly complex, but reasonably solid. I do think that the Struts component is a little more mature than the JSF component, so I’ve decided to use Struts for my app. The wizards help out alot for RAD development.

support-joyMemberssquire,
1. Thanks for attaching myeclipse.ini file. Please increase your vm arguments to higher value and give it a shot.
2. If you already have the installer, double click on the same to run the installer. In case you don’t have the installer handy, you could try pulse.
a. Open Pulse. Try – Start > Programs > Pulse > Pulse Explorer or download from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
b. Login to pulse, you could also login anonymously
c. Select “Eclipse – Helios” realm from top left hand corner dropdown
d. Select “MyEclipse 9.1” profile from “My Profiles”, right click on the same and click on [re-install and run]
e. In case of ME 9.1 is not listed under “My Profiles”, then expand and click on – Ready to use profiles > Popular, from the right hand pane, right click on MyEclipse 9.1 and click on [run]
f. This will open a wizard which will guide you through the rest of the steps.
Let me know how this works for you. -
