portaiMemberJust realized that i can’t do with myEclipse 5 the things i was able to do with MyEclipse 4 – to generate a XML Schema (or a DTDt) from a XML file (or a *.xsd from a *.dtd file)…All I can generate from each of these documents with a right click on them in a Package explorer (unlike MyEclipse 4!) is just a XML file…Did I miss something?
Riyad KallaMemberportai,
I think you may have had another plugin installed, we haven’t changed this. MyEclipse was never able to generate a XML Schema or DTD from a given XML file.
portaiMemberYes, I did have with MyEclipse 4 another plug-in – xmlbuddy – that can do this job…So, these options where showed from it…Unfortunately, myeclipse 5 has conflicts with it (see my previously posted quotes), so, I did not install it with MyEclipse 5….But, would be very nice to have these options in MyEclipse…
Thank you!
Riyad KallaMemberOh yes, I agree with you, that request is already filed. I added your comments to it.
portaiMemberThanks!
BTW, I also realized the appearance of the xml schema in MyEclipse 5 (design view) is also different from it in MyEclipse 4…That one allowed to see the entire structure, the new one shows just a selected element…Sometimes it is better to see the entire structure, and sometimes – the only element…It’s hard to decide which one is better…May be, the best would be to have them both and a choice…Any way, thanks again for your help and this great tool!
portaiMemberAfter a few month working with MyEclipse 5 and comparing the features with what I used to have usuing the MyEclipse 4 I found that I really missed some options…
I just would like to confirm my previously expressed opinion (see my quote posted on 11/07/2006 at 7:37 am) about the MyEclipse XML Schema Editor…The version that was in MyEclipse 4 (allowed to see the entire schema as a tree with all nested elements) was extrimely useful in a whole lot of cases when you need to analyze the relations and dependenciesin a complex structure…Since you already have it implemented – isn’t it possible to include that version as another option of an XML Schema editor, in edition to the one that is now a part of MyEclipse 5 release? This will significally increase the usability and helpfulness of this tool! -
